Wonder if it’s a Lucky Strike, Camel, Winston, Pall Mall, L&M, Kent, Kool, Newport, Salem, Chesterfield or Marlboro ? Smoking and drinking went hand in hand in those days, remember ashtrays and home bars ?! One way to deal with the stress of being gay in a homophobic world, and the worry of offending and being disowned by family. For other gay men who served in Ww2, Korea or Vietnam, a way to cope with PTSD, shell shock as it was called back then. And for closeted men the hell of realizing that comfortable closet is a suffocating tomb. :( Rex in DC
