Revisited: Larry Farrell and Ken Rashoff

Back in February 2024, I wrote about how Ken Rashoff and Larry Farrell are often confused for one another. Farrell had his own album and catalogue (L13), as well as a shared catalogue with Andy Kozak (U13), while Rashoff is said to have one of only two AMG albums without a catalogue of extras (O) — the other is M.

I have sometimes seen and handled Farrell photos marked 0 — a curiosity, I thought, an artifact of a later hand unfamiliar with the difference between Rashoff and Farrell.

More Andy Kozak

The first two images appear to be from sessions photographed by Bob Mizer and sold (at least initially) by Kozak himself.

What to make of this dual, which looks like it was taken at Kozak’s new home in Carmel?

Andy Kozak by three photographers

I have lots of images of Andy Kozak, with some of the photographers identified — others seem likely based on style or dress. This one is by Denny Denfield.

I attribute this photo to Kovert of Hollywood — the setting bears a resemblance to shots in Kozak’s P catalogue at AMG.

This photo is by Spartan of Hollywood.

More first impressions

Like Andy Kozak, Dale Curry made his first appearance in his own album and catalogue — although in Curry’s case his future star turn was forecast in tiny print in AMG’s omnibus ZC catalogue, near a glimpse of “Bob [Powers]’s brother” Major Mike Powers.

Vern Charles and Andy Kozak

Bob Mizer’s ZF album/catalogue was known as “the wrestling catalogue,” but it functioned as a broom sweeping together a grab bag of older duals. Still, the earliest appearance of four AMG models was in the ZF album: Vern Charles, Howard Steele, Jim Nolan, and Jack Conant.

Harold Gillespie

I think I am right in saying that Andy Kozak is the first AMG model whose own album/catalogue serves as his introduction — all of his predecessors, and most of his successors, were teased in variety albums before a standalone outing.
