Mizer catalogues 1

With the ZP13 catalogue, Bob Mizer began to expand the number of sitters showcased beyond the generous bounds of his original conception. The variety catalogues grew in size, in part because new photo sessions were sprinkled between the extra photos for the sitters who made up the album. By the early 1950s, the list of sitters in a catalogue could reach to 60 or so. (As the decade progressed, Mizer seems to have rethought this — the unchecked growth slowed and to some extent was reversed … at least in the catalogue format.)

Notes on AMG’s Thousand Model Directory 7

Continuing with the ZC album:

Bob Powers is now his brother Mike Powers — a double error, since Mike is already shown in the directory, on the same page and in the same row!

(Mike Powers appears in the ZT13 catalogue.)

Howard Thomas becomes Alan Thomas in the directory.

More first impressions

Like Andy Kozak, Dale Curry made his first appearance in his own album and catalogue — although in Curry’s case his future star turn was forecast in tiny print in AMG’s omnibus ZC catalogue, near a glimpse of “Bob [Powers]’s brother” Major Mike Powers.
