Surprised Mae West didn’t nab Bob McCune for her Las Vegas revue show of muscle men. It was said Mae enjoyed their masculine charms in more ways than one. And that they provided the essence used in her youth giving face cream. At least McCune was saved from pumping away for Mae. Poor Dick Dubois was left exhausted by her demands in the boudoir and left her revue, he was replaced by Mickey Hargitay. Hargitay got into fisticuffs with Mae’s main beau Chuck Krauser/Chester Rybinski and Hargitay left Mae for Jayne Mansfield. Chuck changed his name to Paul Novak at Mae’s insistence, and became her live in paramour and man Friday til the day she died. Like the musical chairs of chance and romance in Max Ophüls’ La Ronde. -Rj

Mae West’s relationship with Rybonski (whom one can see here in photos with Bob McCune) sounds quite wholesome, by Hollywood standards!
