I have seen a number of references to Harold Martin as an AMG model, when the more prolific Robert Martin is meant. Harold appears in Album ZE and its catalogue, but in just a handful of shots; Robert can be seen in Album ZM (and the catalogue) and again in Album ZN (“the wrestling catalog”).

DeleteSource of the confusion may be, that in the AMG 1000 model directory both photos above are labeled as "Harold Martin" - see page 43 of the directory. It seems, that Mizer made (another) mistake in his first model directory.
ReplyDeleteThere it is: Bob Mizer worked at a feverish pace, and no matter how good his records, and his memory, he made mistakes about his models. (Many of the latter were probably also working under pseudonyms — in any case, no one was in this for the long-term photo scholar!)
DeleteI do think it is important to correct the record where we can. By looking at AMG’s own contemporary records, and images, we can distinguish between Harold and Robert (and Bill)…
And thank you for the catalogue page - it helped me to identify on of my first photos in my UnKnown-Folder.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
